We talked to our first UK staff member, who we brought onboard over a year ago – Alex Stasyszyn! Since joining as Head of Customer Experience for Europe, Alex has become a much loved member of the team. Here, we talk about what his role entails and how that means no two days are the same. 

 

How would you explain your role at EngageRM? 

AS: Good question! I wear a lot of hats so to speak. When I started with the business, I was the first member in the UK, so I had to cover almost every role from sales, to marketing, to development and implementation. So, I use all of those new skills that I’ve learnt to help our clients in the UK maximise our platform. I also provide demos and help the team in Australia with any matters in the UK that need some attention. Finally, I’m also helping the innovation team visualise some of the new concepts they are working on. 

 

What does an ordinary day look like for you? 

AS: As I said, I do a bunch of different things in my role, so no two days are the same. One day I can be in a call with our UK sales team pitching to a prospective client and demoing. Another day might involve talking with Brett Yorgey (CPO) around the new innovations we’re planning on introducing. I also spend a lot of time with the team from Co-op Live in their office to help them with anything and everything they need from our platform.  

 

Have you always had an interest in sport/tech/sports industry? 

AS: For me, my interests were more entertainment than sport focused. I’ve always been obsessed with music which led me to joining a band and studying it at university. I’m also interested in technology which led to a stint at Apple and eventually working in the Genius Bar which I loved. So, when I saw the job advert for EngageRM, and that they were signing a venue in the UK, it’s safe to say I was very interested! 

 

What are some of your favourite things about working for EngageRM? 

AS: Many things, the people I get to work with, both internally and externally, are lovely and really innovative. Our platform and the technology we work with in general is incredible, there are always answers to the challenges we face, we just have to go find them. The industry we work in as well is great because everyone has that passion for sports and entertainment, and it makes what I do all the more rewarding.  

 

What are you aiming to achieve with the work you do? 

AS: For me, its achieving success for our business, clients, and their audiences. We always ask ‘what does success look like for us’ or for our customers and how does that tie in with audiences wanting to feel involved within their favourite teams. If we monitor success through the lens of whether they feel that connection, then that’s a win for us as we helped play a part in that connection.  

 

What excites you both professionally and personally? 

AS: Professionally, I’m excited to see the business grow and get more teams and clubs on board. I’m also excited to see Co-op Live open at the end of next year, after watching everyone work so hard behind the scenes for the past year, I’m excited to see it all pay off. Personally, being able to learn more about our platform is really thrilling. I feel like I’m just scratching the surface of what it can do so to be able to learn all its nuances is something I’m excited about.
