Behind the scenes, Sarah is one of our biggest workhorses. Not only does she work with our CEO Ned as his executive assistant, but she also helps the business operations team, and knows all the ins and outs of EngageRM. With all that in mind, its no wonder no two days are the same for her.
How would you explain your role at EngageRM?
SB: My role encompasses quite a few things! I take care of the Board and Finance, Risk and Audit Committee Meetings Governance, executive assistance to the CEO, Staff meetings and social events, business travel and general Business Operations support where needed.
What does an ordinary day look like for you?
SB: It starts at 5am for me and I usually have a checklist of tasks that don’t change that much day-to-day. I’ll also have a few meetings with Ned and the Business Operations team to discuss pressing issues and projects that are coming up. I’ll also check to see what’s happening on the calendars and where everyone is so I’m across everything. Then my afternoons are spent working on my different tasks and getting those done.
Have you always had an interest in sport?
SB: I haven’t had an interest in sport in terms of following a team, but I’ve always been interested in – and loved – how sport can bring people together. Everyone from the team to the league and its fans are all brought together through one purpose and one goal which impacts the community at large, and that’s what I love about it all. Also, working with Ned for over 6 years has brought me up to speed with the sports world too.
What are some of your favourite things about working for EngageRM?
SB: The people make the biggest difference, and everyone here has your back which is a special feeling. The entire team are driven by results and the work that they do to make the world a better place through sport, and that’s something special to be a part of. I also enjoy watching the business scale, 2 years ago there were 14 staff and now there are almost 40. So, to see all the planning that goes into the scaling process is something I enjoy.
What are you aiming to achieve with the work you do?
SB: My two biggest passions are helping people achieve their goals and making a difference in the world. They are the two things that drive me in what I do, so with my work I aim to help facilitate that and provide the systems so my colleagues can get to where they want to go. I know I only play a small part but my goal is to helping build the business to be successful and to reach their goal to be a global recognised brand within the sports and entertainment industries.
What excites you both professionally and personally?
SB: It would be like my other answer, I’m excited to build the business up to a point where it’s systemised and running well, we’re there so that’s very exciting. Personally, I’m just excited to make a difference, may that be through my work with EngageRM or in my local community.
