Hi, I’m Sarah Butler
But you can call me Berri (a childhood nickname that ensued after I adamantly claimed my hair was strawberry blonde!)
I was born and raised in Alice Springs, Australia
But I’m currently in Chiang Mai, Thailand
You’ll find me eating Khao Soi Gai, a creamy and slightly spicy chicken yellow curry that is unique to Northern Thailand
And you’ll see me drinking masala chai or matcha latte
A sports moment I’ll never forget is how the Philippines stops when Manny Pacquiao fights. There would be no traffic jams and crime would reduce for the duration of the fight as everyone was glued to the TV. It shows how sport can shape a nation and culture for the better
The sports venue you’ll have trouble getting me out of is I grew up in Brisbane, so I have fond memories of the big venues there. Also, ANZ Stadium in Sydney, a booking error saw my sister and I go there to watch The Police in 2007.
I idolise no one in particular, but I do look up to and admire such people who make a difference in others’ lives and build a greater good for society – Jesus, Mother Theresa, Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Rosa Parks, Steve Jobs, John Newton and Dave Eubank
On the weekend you’ll find me relaxing with family and friends whilst we explore Thailand and Asia. I also love a good thriller, getting into nature, I’m also currently learning Thai, I can hold a conversation, but I have a long way to go!
I’m always happy to talk about helping others and making a difference in their lives whether that be supporting a business owner to reach their full potential or helping people less fortunate than myself. I have organized a container load of goods from Australia for an orphanage in the Philippines, helped plant a cash crop of 500 cocoa trees to help a local community be more self-sufficient and I recently helped in a small way to get food and medical supplies over the border to war-torn Burma
Something you may not know about me is I have a forklift license and I am half Scottish
