Namira joined the EngageRM team in August 2021 as a CRM intern, her skills impressed immediately and at the start of 2022, she joined us full time as a Data Analyst. She’s busy as ever behind the scenes, working hard to help our professional services team, so we wanted to learn a little more about her role and what her days look like with us.
How would you explain your role at EngageRM?
NA: A lot of things! I’m the resident data nerd and work closely with Shaun Lumsden (our Senior Business and Data Analyst) to help our clients understand their data. I import, manipulate, and translate data into our system as well as create plenty of reports. The professional services team will work with the client to find out what they need in terms of data and assets, then I come into the picture and sort that out for them.
What does an ordinary day at the (home) office look like for you?
NA: At the moment, I’m importing a monumental amount of data! I have 11 different files that hold around 10,000 rows of data that I need to import into our system. So that’s been taking up most of my days, I’m also creating some customer behaviour reports for our clients as well.
Have you always had an interest in the sports industry?
NA: Of course, I’m a massive sports fan and I’ve actively participated in some form of sport for many years. It used to be basketball but unfortunately, I’m not tall enough now so I play soccer because height doesn’t matter there! My passion for sport is what lead me to studying sports science at university and start a career in the industry.
So that love of sport was the main factor that drove you to the sports industry?
NA: I’ve always loved sport and knew I wanted to work in the industry, but it wasn’t until a few years ago that I was introduced – and subsequently fell in love – with the data and technology side. Now I get to marry all my passions into my job and that’s why I enjoy it so much.
We’ve heard high praise from our Senior Consultants Vicky Watts and Jonathon De Conno about you, what do you enjoy about working with them?
NA: Everyone is so lovely and supportive which I appreciate. Both Vicky and Jonno understand our platform to such a high level and working with them has improved my own skill set in a way that even I couldn’t have hoped for when I started.
Finally, what excites you about your role and where it could go in the future?
NA: I just want to learn as much as I can about the business, data and analytics, and how we can better serve our clients. I came from a sports science background, and still feel like I’m somewhat new to the data space, so I’m taking every opportunity to learn and I’m excited to keep doing so!
