Alex loves sport, she also loves testing, so it’s safe to say her new role as our QA Manager is a match made in heaven. With an extensive career in testing and development, Alex boasts an extensive skill set second to none.
Has sport always been a passion of yours?
ADG: I’m a sports freak, I love it and you almost have to when you grow up in Queensland. I’ve played tennis, softball, rugby, soccer, hockey and rowing just to name a few. Now I’m a massive Formula 1 fan and for the past 15 years I’ve travelled down to Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix.
What has your journey in technology and testing looked like?
ADG: It was all by accident! My university degree is in international business, but I’ve always had a passion for technology. A friend of mine worked in the gaming industry as a tester and it sounded like a dream job so that led to the switch. From there I got my foot in the door in the finance industry, and I’ve been testing ever since!
What drew you into the open role at EngageRM?
ADG: I was connected to the business through a mutual contact who I had worked with before. He messaged me and mentioned that EngageRM were looking for a QA Manager to join the team and thought I would be a good fit. What really drew me in is how there’s a lot of space for me to work within, and the fact that the business works in sports is a bonus too.
What are you aiming to achieve with the work you will do?
ADG: My goal is to give the team the baseline strategy to ensure there is a solid release process, so the end users have confidence to use the EngageRM platform. Those end users are so important, and I want to make sure they feel as though they can use the platform without a fear of it breaking.
Finally, what’s exciting for you personally and professionally at the moment?
ADG: I just wrapped up an almost 2-week long motorcycle tour along the Murray River along the New South Wales and Victoria borders, which was amazing. We camped when we could and stayed at local small town motor inns. Professionally, I’m excited to dive in and meet everyone at EngageRM as well as learn the solution and get my hands dirty into testing!
