Say hello to our newest Senior Developer, Claude! After working for 10 years as a consultant, Claude was ready to switch back to development, joining EngageRM eager to tackle a new challenge.
Where did your interest in technology start?
CC: Funnily enough, I originally wanted to be an accountant purely because I wanted to work in an office. When my grades came through, I was offered a place in a computer engineering course, and it all started there. It was only once I really delved into my course that I developed the interest in computers and programming that I do now.
In your first role after university, you experienced Dynamics for the first time, what drew you to it?
CC: It was! For me it was how the product is backed by Microsoft. They’ve been acquiring many different applications into their suite of products that you can integrate with Dynamics CRM, so not only was there a big opportunity with the product, but a massive window for growth when it comes to technological skills as well. Moreover, many companies are using Dynamics, so there is quite a lot of opportunity in that space.
What led to the decision to join EngageRM?
CC: Last year I ticked over 10 years in consulting, and I felt ready to explore the other side of the coin. My previous colleagues and boss were incredibly encouraging of my decision to explore and try something new. When the role with EngageRM came up, the focus on sports and entertainment sparked my interest because only a few companies focus on one vertical.
You mentioned that you worked as a consultant for 10 years, what were some key highlights?
CC: There were a lot as you can imagine! One project I’m quite proud of was working on NSW Covid Appointment system during the pandemic. The challenging engagement gave me a great opportunity to help the community through technology. Also, throughout the years my confidence improved because my team were incredibly supportive.
What are you aiming to achieve with the work you’ll do?
CC: I’m aiming to contribute to a product that the end user will use for a significant period. I always see myself as a work in progress, so I’m also looking to push myself out of my comfort zone and learn new skills and technologies. Being a developer at heart, I would just like to build something that can bring a positive change to someone’s day.
What excited you professionally at the moment?
CC: I’m excited to expand my network and meet my new colleagues whilst also learning the ins and outs of the EngageRM platform. I can already see how it has a lot of potential, so I’m excited to get stuck in and see what it can do.
