We have a new addition to our development team! Gene has joined us as a Senior Developer, to contribute to building our platform. Taking pride in his work is a core value for Gene, and he can’t wait to get stuck in and work with all our clients.
Has sport played an important role in your life?
GCDC: Sports have been a big passion for my family, my father loves basketball so I usually tune in with him, my sister is also a member of the women’s rugby team for the Philippines! My passions lie with reading or video games, I love to get stuck into a fantasy or sci-fi novel when I can!
How did you find and develop your interest in technology?
GCDC: My interest in all things tech came from my love of video games. It’s only natural that when you enjoy them, the next thing you want to do is develop and build them, that’s what I wanted to do when I started university. Then, as is the case at university, my horizons widened and I learnt about all the different areas of programming and technology, which led to me CRM and the rest is history.
When you saw the opportunity with EngageRM, what drew you in?
GCDC: For me, it was the caliber of clients EngageRM works with. When I heard about the opportunity and started to dig a little deeper into the business, I saw we work with the LA Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans and the New Orleans Saints, it was impressive to say the least. There’s also a lot of room for my personal growth as well which is a key aim for me.
What are you aiming to achieve with the work you’ll do here?
GCDC: The first thing that comes to mind is growing the technology, it’s always nice to take part in a project and grow the technology throughout it. I take a lot of pride in saying I helped a piece of technology grow or I built this element to help it mature, and then when others come in and use it, I feel quite proud of my work. Throughout my projects so far as well, I haven’t seen the handover or the end user engage with my work, so I’m looking forward to that here.
What is exciting for you at the moment?
GCDC: I have a holiday to Korea planned, I’ll be travelling and eating my way aorund Seoul which I’m really looking forward to. Professionally, I’m excited to see the developments with AI and what it will look like in the future. I’ve been using it for quite a while with what I do, but now I’m seeing it open to the general public which is amazing, so I’m looking forward to the next step AI will take.
