Matt joins the team from Boston as our new Project Lead! It’s hard not to be a sports fan when your city hosts some exceptional franchises including the Celtics, Patriots, Bruins and Red Sox, so Matt is more than ready to jump into the sports and entertainment sector with us.
How important are sport and entertainment in your life?
MG: I’ve always loved sports! Growing up I dabbled in a few including baseball, American football and basketball. My dad taught me how to play both basketball and baseball and I grew up watching the various Boston sports teams, I have a twin brother, so we were always quite competitive with each other growing up.
What led you to project management?
MG: So, I was an analyst in my first job out of college, working on a marketing CRM with campaign and marketing based data. I then transitioned into project management because they wanted more technically minded staff as project managers to better serve our clients. That transition was where I learnt agile scrum and methodologies whilst also gaining a few certifications. It was great for me because I worked on a variety of projects that were both more technical and relied on my consulting skills too, so it made me a better project manager in the process.
Why CRM systems?
MG: The technical challenge was something I enjoyed, I liked how I’d be presented with a plan, and it was up to me to take action and create it. Also, seeing the end-to-end process of it all piqued my interest, seeing how data can spur on a campaign which drives users to a landing page for example.
What are some highlights from your career so far?
MG: Previously, I helped facilitate a graduate program, so I would interview college seniors and then mentor those who joined the program, watching them succeed was a highlight for me. Also, running successful projects across a range of different industries at the same time and tailoring them towards their different needs and customers would be a highlight as well.
What drew you to EngageRM?
MG: I saw the job advert, and thought I’d apply as I felt like I matched what the business is looking for. What drew me in was the industry EngageRM operates in, sport and entertainment is an interesting and unique sector. Also, looking on the website and learning more about the platform and the business really sealed the deal.
What are you aiming to achieve with the work you will do?
MG: My main goal is to alleviate pressures for the team internally and externally. I’m there to eliminate the noise and help them deliver the product to our clients and customers. Then on a larger scale, I aim to help the business grow and scale whilst maintaining good customer rapport and ensuring good project delivery standards.
What excites you most about joining the team?
MG: I’m excited to build meaningful relationships and get to know my colleagues well. It’s nice to work with a group who are all passionate about what they do and how they go about their work. From what I know so far and the reception I’ve received from the team since coming on board, I see how everyone supports and works together to achieve our goals.
