Meet Gene Dela Cruz

Hi, I’m Gene Carlo R. Dela Cruz 

But you can call me Gene 

I was born and raised in Las Pinas, Philippines  

But I’m currently in Bacoor City, Philippines  

You’ll find me eating sinigang, a popular Filippino sour soup with Tamarind as its base, it is absolutely a comfort food that reminds me of my childhood 

And you’ll see me drinking either green or barley tea! I love that I can drink it hot or cold, depending on the weather  

A sports moment I’ll never forget is Watching the Philippines vs. Korea during Fiba 2011. It was my first time watching a basketball game live, seeing and feeling the packed arena when the Philippines won was mind-blowing 

I idolise Stephen Hawking, one of the most brilliant minds of our time. His accomplishments, even through his disability, are an inspiration to me 

On the weekend you’ll find me reading or listening to audiobooks/podcasts. I find them relaxing listening to. I also do menial tasks around the house, like cleaning or cooking 

I’m always happy to talk about technology and science. It is endlessly fascinating how much innovation we can develop to make our lives easier. In a couple of years, we went from phones the size of a brick to fully-fledged computers in the palm of our hands 

Something you may not know about me is I collect plushies and stuffed toys. People find it surprising that I still collect this stuff at my age, but I am always of the opinion that we should always continue what we enjoy
