After working as a Senior Developer since joining EngageRM in July 2021, Danielle is now our new Scrum Master! Working hard behind the scenes, Danielle will support our development team to ensure they are set for success!
How would you explain your role?
DS: I’m Scrum Master, so I’m currently helping introduce scrum and agile to the team. This means I’m helping to build a framework around how we want to work so we can adapt to changes quickly.
So, what does an ordinary day look like for you then?
DS: It usually starts with looking through my emails and Teams messages to see what’s been happening. Then we have our daily scrum and from there it varies quite a bit, mostly I just try to do whatever is needed to help the team get their work done quickly and efficiently.
How did you find your way into the tech industry?
DS: I started working with computers in high school, and that was way back when the Commodore 64 was still a thing. So, from very early on I’ve always been into computers, then I studied programming at university, and it all flowed from there. I remember when I was in high school, and we had a little drawing program that consisted of typing coordinates in for where you wanted the mouse to go and how big you wanted shapes to be. That was my first taste of programming, and it was quite fun!
Is sport another passion as well?
DS:I’m a casual football (soccer) fan, I loved the World Cup, but I will say I was happy to miss the 3am matches.
What are some of your favourite things about working for EngageRM?
DS: The flexibility is a big thing for me, I love the option to be able to work from home but also travel and work as well. I recently went to Queensland to see family and gave me the flexibility to see them whilst also continue working. The other thing I like about EngageRM are the people, everyone is great to work with and are always happy to help.
What are you aiming to achieve with the work that you do?
DS: In the time I’ve been with EngageRM, the company has changed and grown quite considerably, and it’s been great to play a part in that change. Now, my main aim is to support the development team to ensure they are best prepared to do the work they need to.
What excites you at the moment?
DS:I just love learning new things and putting all my new skills to the test. So, with being a Scrum Master, it’s putting everything I’ve learnt into practice which is really exciting for me. Personally, I’ve been working through a few online courses to improve my skills and learn as much as I can.
