Hi, I’m Curtis Perri

But you can call me Curt

I was born and raised in Goondiwindi, Queensland, Australia. Right on the border with New South Wales in the Western Darling Downs

But I’m currently in Brisbane, Australia

You’ll find me eating a home cooked lasagne, my father’s family are Italian and nothing beats their lasagne

And you’ll see me drinking any type of coffee, it doesn’t have to be particularly good, anything will do for me

A sports moment I’ll never forget is watching Steve Bradbury win Australia’s first Winter Olympic gold medal in 2002. It was a scene of absolute chaos, and out of all the other skaters crashing with limbs flying everywhere sailed Bradbury into the record book

The sports venue you’ll have trouble getting me out of is Suncorp Stadium. It gives off such a great energy when you walk in, I’ve visited many times for rugby league and union as well as concerts and it’s always a memorable experience

I idolise not one person, but many. I love the saying that “A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they know they shall never sit”. I admire anyone who’s actions embody this sentiment, and I think the work that Steve Irwin did in conservation encapsulated this perfectly

On the weekend you’ll find me socialising with friends, out at a bar, restaurant, or at home. I regularly host board game nights, and in summer the backyard pool gets a workout with everyone looking to cool off. During the week I take it easier and read a good history, biography, fantasy or sci-fi novel

I’m always happy to talk about team sports, particularly cricket and rugby league. I’ve followed the St George Dragons ever since I learned they won 11 premierships in a row. My wife grew up around baseball, and she’s introduced me to the Australian baseball league. In summer we’ll regularly go and cheer on the Brisbane Bandits and soak up some sun

Something you may not know about me is I’ve been to 30 of the 50 states in the USA. In 2007 I did a road trip from Maine (in the far north east) to California, and back, over 4 weeks. Highlights include the top of Rockefeller Plaza at sunset in New York, the Superman statue in Metropolis Illinois, and stopping in the New Mexico desert at night to see the crispest, clearest view of the stars in my life
